Tucker Fresh IGA Partners with Gander App To Revolutionise Grocery Shopping and Fight Food Waste

Gander, the pioneering app dedicated to slashing food waste and helping consumers save money at the supermarket, is thrilled to announce its launch in Perth.

After a successful launch on the Eastern-Seaboard, Gander is now set to revolutionise the way Western Australians shop for groceries and contribute to reducing food waste across the nation.

Tucker Fresh IGA is the first retailer in Perth to embrace Gander’s technology, across Carine, Kinross, Piara Waters, and Treeby with the remaining eight stores shortly following, spearheading the movement towards a net-zero independent retail sector, in line with the Government’s goal to halve food waste by 2030.

Employing an innovative approach, Gander is revolutionising the grocery shopping experience by seamlessly connecting consumers with discounted items nearing their expiry date. Not only does this combat the pressing issues of food waste, but it also assists in alleviating the burden of rising living costs.

Via a one-time integration with the retailer’s Point of Sale system, Gander showcases a retailer’s markdowns available in store in real-time. As soon as the markdown label is printed in store, it appears on the Gander app for consumers to browse. Similarly, when that item is sold or no longer available it is automatically removed from the app.

"We are thrilled to bring Gander to Perth and partner with Tucker Fresh IGA stores to tackle food waste head-on, while creating a sustainable shopping experience that benefits both consumers and retailers." said Tim Brown, CEO of Gander Australia.

"At Tucker Fresh, we are proud to partner with Gander to empower shoppers to make sustainable choices while enjoying savings on their grocery bills.” said Garth Brown, General Manager of Tucker Fresh IGA.

To celebrate the launch, Gander is hosting an exciting shopper competition at each participating Tucker Fresh IGA store. Five lucky winners from each location will receive $50 in FreshConnect reward points, redeemable in-store, further enhancing the value proposition for shoppers. With the app now available for download on iOS and Android devices, residents of Perth can start saving money and reducing food waste with just a few taps.

"Gander is not just an app; it's a movement towards a more conscious and responsible way of shopping." concluded Tim Brown.
